Market Research Specialist Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a self-employed Market Research Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting market research, analyzing data, and providing insightful reports.

The ideal candidate will have a high level of numeracy, strong analytical skills, and the ability to interpret complex data. They will also have excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with key industry contacts.

Responsibilities:
1. Conduct market research and analyze data to provide insights into consumer behavior and market trends.
2. Develop and maintain a digital library of secondary research by accessing and analyzing local professional trade press, company annual reports, national statistics, broker reports, etc.
3. Conduct interviews with key players along the value chain, including manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, associations, government, etc.
4. Perform retail audits of major retailers and stores around Hyderabad.
5. Generate MS-Word and PowerPoint reports in English.

Requirements:
1. High level of numeracy.
2. Ability to work with, analyze, and interpret data.
3. Strong interest in market research and tenacity in the pursuit of information.
4. Innate curiosity to stay up-to-date with the evolution of the food and nutrition industry, more specifically on packaged and fresh food retail sales, food packaging, and pet food.
5. Familiarity with consumer trends in Hyderabad and local direct knowledge is key.
6. Strong communication skills and a willingness to find strong industry contacts.
7. Fluency in English, reporting, and the local language, research.
8. Previous experience working on a short-term contract basis or in a freelance capacity.
9. Excellent time-management, organization, and self-motivation skills.
10. Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
11. Flexibility to adapt to unexpected changes in project scope, starting dates, etc.
