Researcher Opportunities in Physics and Analytics

We are seeking accomplished physicists to contribute to the development of large language models (LLMs). This role focuses on enhancing LLMs' capacity to comprehend and resolve intricate physics problems, including multi-step conceptual or quantitative questions in areas such as mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum theory.

The primary objectives for this position include:

  • Determining the maximum radial distance an electron travels from a conductor's axis when emitted radially due to a magnetic field generated by current.
  • Calculating the probability that a high-energy pion decays within a certain distance from its origin given its rest mass and proper lifetime.

These tasks aim to identify model weaknesses and optimize training and evaluation workflows.

Candidate Requirements and Qualifications

  • A PhD/Postdoc in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills to solve advanced physics problems with clear and structured reasoning.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex topics and provide precise feedback.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote research environment and participate actively in team discussions.
  • Access to a reliable computer and internet setup to participate in remote assignments.

Engagement Details

  • Required time commitment: at least 4 hours per day and minimum 20 hours per week with 4 hours of overlap with PST.
  • Contract duration: 1 month; engagement type: contractor assignment/freelancer.
  • Selection process: task-based assessment for shortlisted candidates, followed by a contract offer with defined timelines and workload.
