Job Profile Overview

Key Responsibilities:

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail corridor covers a distance of approximately 508 km with 12 planned stations between Mumbai and Sabarmati. The system will operate using ETCS Level 2, with the main Operational Control Centre (OCC) located at Sabarmati and a secondary OCC at Surat Depot, serving as a Backup Control Centre (BCC) for redundancy and training.

Main Job Tasks:

  • To ensure compliance with ETCS Level 2 specifications, including subsystem verification, balises, RBCs, LEUs, and onboard units in line with ERA TSI standards.
  • To validate configuration data for trackside and onboard components and ensure traceability across version-controlled records.
  • To participate in closed-loop testing of ETCS components, covering radio communication, balise integrity, and fallback scenarios, including STM interfacing if relevant.
  • In case the OCC is inoperable, centralized control will be shifted to the BCC.

Required Expertise and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, applicants must possess a strong background in infrastructure projects with at least 25 years of overall experience. Relevant experience in signalling high-speed ETCS with semi-high-speed rail projects, specifically those with operational speeds equal to or greater than 160 Kmph, is also essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in signally high-speed ETCS with 250kmph semi-high-speed rail projects, i.e., urban suburban, intercity, regional passenger transit systems, projects with operational speed equal or greater than 160 Kmph. Additionally, at least 5 years of specific experience as in-charge ETCS signalling high-speed rail with 250 kmph.

Indigenous Rolling Stock:

The rolling stock, with a maximum operational speed of 249 kmph and design speed of 280 kmph, is being developed by ICF Chennai and will be tested on the corridor, which has been designed for a maximum speed of 350 kmph and intended to operate progressively up to 320 kmph as designated rolling stock becomes available.
