Cloud Data Architect

About the Role

  • Design and implement scalable cloud data architectures leveraging Snowflake and Matillion for end-to-end data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
  • Develop and maintain robust data modeling standards, data flows, and architecture best practices (dimensional, normalized, star/snowflake schemas).
  • Evaluate and adopt tools in the modern data stack, ensuring scalability and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to define requirements and create efficient data pipelines.
  • Ensure data security, access controls, and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2) across the organization.
  • Optimize Snowflake performance via clustering, caching, query tuning, and cost management strategies.
  • Oversee data integration from APIs, databases, flat files, and third-party platforms, promoting seamless data flow.
  • Establish data quality and metadata management practices to drive business decisions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in Matillion orchestration, reusable job frameworks, and performance optimization techniques.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering/architecture, with a strong focus on cloud-based solutions.
  • Proven expertise with Snowflake (multi-cluster warehouses, role-based access, data sharing), as well as strong pipeline development experience with Matillion ETL.
  • Strong data modeling and scalable cloud data platforms experience, with proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (Python or Bash).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS/Azure, including familiarity with CI/CD, Git, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
  • Familiarity with BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and data governance/data catalog tools (Alation, Collibra, Atlan) is a plus.
