Job Description

As a senior backend developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining back-end systems that support our maritime operations platform. Your expertise in backend technologies will be crucial in delivering high-performance and scalable solutions that meet the evolving needs of the maritime sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Contribute to the design and development of scalable, maintainable, and efficient software architecture.
  • Product Ownership: Take full ownership of the product lifecycle, from conceptualization through development and deployment.
  • Testing: Implement Test-Driven Development practices, including writing comprehensive unit tests, to ensure high-quality, reliable, and maintainable code.
  • Code Optimization: Build reusable, modular code and libraries to promote efficiency and consistency across projects.
  • Security and Compliance: Continuously optimize applications for maximum performance, speed, and scalability; implement and enforce security best practices and ensure compliance with data protection regulations to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation for all systems and processes related to the products you own.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Strong programming foundation in Python is essential, along with experience in web application development and APIs (REST, XML, other open sources). Secure coding practices and knowledge of caching techniques are also required.

  • Caching Techniques: Knowledge of caching techniques and utilities like Memcache / Redis.
  • Web Servers: Experience working on Apache, Nginx, or any other web/app server.
  • Containerization: Experience in containerization tool - Docker.
  • Deployment and Scaling: Hands-on experience in enterprise level deployment and scaling.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
