Job Title: Environmental Safety Specialist

This role is responsible for overseeing and implementing environmental safety protocols across all projects. The right candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with a passion for ensuring compliance and creating a safe working environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • EHS Policy Development
    • Create and implement EHS policies, SOPs, and audit protocols that align with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
    • Ensure the effective integration of EHS practices into project design, procurement, construction, and handover processes.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Maintain awareness and adherence to local, state, and central EHS regulations.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and JSAs to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Safeguard all statutory records, licenses, and permits related to EHS.
  • Site Safety Operations
    • Regularly conduct site inspections, safety audits, and surprise checks to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Monitor contractors' and vendors' adherence to EHS guidelines.
    • Timely report, investigate, and address incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Training and Awareness
    • Develop and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs for site teams, contractors, and vendors.
    • Foster a culture of safety through fire drills, emergency preparedness sessions, and toolbox talks.
    • Empower site safety champions to promote awareness and ownership.
  • Incident and Emergency Response
    • Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective measures following incidents.
    • Establish and maintain site emergency response plans and protocols.
    • Ensure medical and first aid preparedness at all sites.
  • Sustainability and Environment
    • Promote green building practices, waste management, and pollution control in projects.
    • Monitor energy, water, and resource usage against sustainable benchmarks.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8-12 years of experience in EHS, preferably in construction or real estate projects.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple sites and large contractor workforces.
