Mainframe Storage Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Storage System Engineer to join our team. As a critical member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of our storage infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Mainframe storage subsystems, architecture, and management. They should be proficient in storage management software and utilities such as DFSMS, DFSMSdss, and DFSMSrmm. In addition, they should have experience with storage virtualization technologies and concepts, including DASD, VTS, and SAN/NAS storage provisioning.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain Mainframe storage subsystems to ensure compatibility, performance, and reliability.
  • Perform storage capacity planning and provisioning to meet current and future storage requirements.
  • Configure and manage storage management software and utilities to automate storage administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor storage performance and resource utilization, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and optimizing data placement.
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery and data replication solutions for Mainframe storage systems.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, database administrators, and application teams to support data backup and recovery operations and data migration projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in Mainframe storage subsystems, architecture, and management.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage management software and utilities such as DFSMS, DFSMSdss, and DFSMSrmm.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage virtualization technologies and concepts, including DASD, VTS, and SAN/NAS storage provisioning.
