Job Overview:

The role of a Senior Surveillance Leader involves providing strategic oversight to the organization's surveillance function, ensuring effective detection and prevention of market abuse or misconduct.

  • Leading the investigation of alerts, suspicious trades, and breaches; ensuring timely escalation to compliance, legal, or regulators; identifying emerging risks in trading patterns, market behavior, or operational processes; recommending preventive measures.
  • Developing, testing, and deploying surveillance systems, creating a surveillance framework, and developing SOPs. Driving the selection, implementation, and enhancement of surveillance platforms, analytics tools, and AI-based monitoring systems.
  • Mentoring and developing the surveillance team; ensuring continuous skill enhancement in regulatory and analytical domains.
  • Benchmarking against global best practices; introducing process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency.
  • Presenting periodic surveillance reports, risk dashboards, and key metrics to the Board Committees, and seniors.
  • Establishing and periodically updating surveillance policies, escalation protocols, and investigation frameworks.
  • Ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines; liaising with regulators, interacting with market participants, other exchanges acting as the primary point of contact for regulatory queries and inspections.
  • Collaborating with Compliance, Risk, Technology, and Business teams to ensure integrated risk management and swift issue resolution.
  • Staying ahead of regulatory expectations and market behaviors, acting proactively to protect market integrity
  • Proficiency in Excel, Tableau, Power BI, and Python is required.

Requirements:

  • An MBA (in finance) or CA/CS degree.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of equity and equity derivatives markets.
  • Knowledge of tools and programming used for analysis and report creation.
