Cardiothoracic Surgeon Job Description

Ajara Hospitals seeks a highly skilled and experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of diseases affecting the heart, lungs, chest, and blood vessels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Surgical Care: Perform a variety of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries, including but not limited to CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysm repair, lung resections, and vascular grafting.
  • Manage and Treat Conditions: Manage and treat conditions such as congenital heart diseases, ischemic heart diseases, valvular heart diseases, and diseases of the aorta and peripheral arteries.
  • Collaborate with Specialists: Collaborate with cardiologists, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, and other specialists in planning and executing surgical interventions.
  • Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Care: Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments, develop post-operative care plans, and closely monitor patients' recovery in the intensive care unit (ICU) and post-surgery wards.
  • Consultation and Diagnosis: Provide consultations for patients referred for cardio-thoracic and vascular issues, including interpreting diagnostic tests such as echocardiograms, angiograms, and CT scans.
  • Team Collaboration: Lead a multidisciplinary surgical team, participate in hospital rounds, case reviews, and multidisciplinary meetings, and maintain a high standard of teamwork.
  • Patient Education and Counseling: Educate patients and their families about the nature of the disease, surgical options, and expected outcomes, and provide emotional and psychological support.
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to junior doctors, residents, and medical staff, and participate in academic and research activities.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Education: MBBS, MS (General Surgery), and MCh/DNB in CTVS (Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery) from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in performing cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries in a high-volume hospital or medical center.
  • Skills: Expertise in managing complex cardiovascular and thoracic conditions, proficiency in using advanced surgical techniques and technology, excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills, strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, and commitment to patient safety and high-quality clinical outcomes.
Work Schedule:
  • Full-time commitment: Availability for emergency surgeries and on-call duties as required.
