Steel Procurement Manager Job DescriptionJob Overview

The Senior Procurement Manager will be responsible for managing the procurement of all types of steel materials from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and dealers, with a focus on bulk material purchase and sourcing. The role requires experience in the steel industry, particularly in purchasing pig iron, scrap, Fe, Mg, etc.

Main Responsibilities
  • Purchasing and procuring steel materials including hot rolled coils, mild steel, stainless steel, special grade, and consumables from OEMs and dealers.
  • Developing desired steel grades and making memoranda of understanding (MOUs)/agreements with large steel manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes, vendor banking, cost-saving techniques, and import/export procedures.
  • Forecasting product trends, price analysis, and market research on a weekly basis.
  • Negotiating with vendors and suppliers to secure the best possible prices and terms.
  • Managing working capital across PAN India plants based on market and site requirements.
  • Preparing analytics reports on inventory, costs, and other relevant data as required by management.
Key Requirements
  • 14+ years of experience in procurement or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of steel manufacturing processes and vendor banking systems.
  • Ability to develop and implement cost-saving techniques.
  • Experience in importing and exporting goods through vessel shipments.
  • Advanced Excel, Power BI, and other software tools skills.
  • SAP knowledge is mandatory.
