Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a challenging role, responsible for implementing and maintaining environmental health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for the implementation of EHS policies and procedures at project sites, ensuring compliance with legal guidelines, customer requirements, and organizational standards.
  • Develop and complete EHS plans in the workplace, aligned with legal guidelines, customer, and organizational requirements.
  • Implement and monitor the EHS Management System according to International Standards (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001), including corporate systems and procedures at project sites, including customer requirements (contractual).
  • Implement EHS Policy, guidelines, procedures, and compliance to legal requirements to establish a real culture of Environment, Health, and Safety, etc. Provide clear, complete, and binding instructions as applicable.
  • Participate in EHS core team meetings to identify aspects and hazards at the workplace/facilities and establish control measures, guiding and training site personnel in implementing them.
  • Select, evaluate, and perform monitoring of on-site contractors, including a system of penalties and incentives.
  • Identify training needs, plan, and coordinate training programs on EHS at different levels, conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
  • Conduct internal and external EHS audits, plan and conduct EHS audits at the project site, and take corrective/preventive actions promptly.
  • Identify near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions and ensure corrective/preventive actions as approved by the core EHS team.
  • Communicate incident/accident information (critical issue) investigation, analysis, and recommendation of corrective and preventive actions to the Project Manager, Project Team, BU EHS Officer, and Strategic EHS Officer.
  • Ensure the use of Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed based on the nature of work and ensure availability of all safety gadgets in the project sites.
Requirements:
  • You should have 3-5 years of experience. Preference will be given to candidates having experience in the Rail Industry.
  • A Full-time degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety & Environment (PGDISEM) approved by the State Technical Board/RLI/CLI/NICMAR.
  • Added advantage will be with candidates possessing ME in Industrial Safety Management from NIT, NEBOSH qualified, and Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.
  • Excellent Teamwork and Key Collaboration Management skills.
  • Co-working and Problem-solving Skills; Lean & Agile methods and validated tools.
  • Willing to move across India according to the Projects.
