Job Opportunity: Database Tester

We are seeking an experienced professional to fill a crucial role in our QA team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in SQL-based testing, backend validation, and data-intensive application testing.

This position requires excellent skills in writing complex queries, validating large datasets, and ensuring data accuracy and integrity across systems. The successful candidate should have at least mid-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data validation and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyse requirements and design test cases focused on database and backend validation.
  • Write, execute, and optimise complex SQL queries to validate business logic, data integrity, and workflows.
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation between source and target systems.
  • Use Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, lookups, validations) for data analysis and reporting.
  • Perform backend testing to ensure proper integration of applications with underlying databases.
  • Identify, log, and track issues using test management tools such as JIRA or TestRail.
  • Collaborate with developers, DBAs, and business analysts to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
  • Prepare detailed test documentation including test cases, execution results, and defect reports.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of database testing processes.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and independently handle client discussions.

For consideration, the applicant should meet the following qualifications:

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in QA with a strong focus on database testing.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, including writing and optimising queries, joins, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Strong experience in data validation and reconciliation across multiple systems.
  • At least mid-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data validation, reporting).
  • Familiarity with test management and bug tracking tools (JIRA, TestRail, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to handle client interactions independently.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
