Senior Technical Specialist

The role of a technical specialist is pivotal in ensuring high-quality and timely IT infrastructure support to guarantee the availability, stability, and performance of our datacentres, platforms, and corporate systems.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing AIX servers to optimize their performance and reliability. This entails administering SAN and storage arrays to ensure efficient data management and access.

You will also be implementing backup, replication, HA, and recovery technologies to safeguard business continuity. Furthermore, you will secure AIX servers from unauthorized access and data breaches.

Additionally, you will install, configure, and maintain AIX server hardware to meet business requirements.

• Manage AIX servers to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Team Structure

This position reports directly to the Infrastructure Head within the Infrastructure department.

The team's primary responsibilities include administering and managing development, UAT, pre-production, production, and DR environments as well as internal corporate IT systems.

The team strives to achieve five key objectives:

• Security: Protect applications from unauthorized access and data loss.
• Reliability: Ensure fault-tolerant applications with no single points of failure.

Specific Role Responsibilities

This role involves ensuring uptime SLA's are met every month for systems managed by the individual.

It also includes monitoring system performance, capacity, and growth; suggesting and implementing performance improvements and hardware/software refreshes.

The role requires ensuring the network and systems are internally and externally secure by following existing policies and procedures.

Additionally, it involves implementing security projects, completing risk assessments, and building guides for new and existing systems.

This role also entails ensuring data is secure and backed up by implementing regular backups and participating in yearly BCP & DR tests.

The individual will develop professional and technical knowledge and skills, provide technical advice and mentoring within the team, and implement new projects to meet project timelines and deadlines.

• Degree qualified or equivalent industry certifications and experience.
• AIX operating system administration skills.
• Knowledge of automation scripting.
