Leadership Role in Wholesale Risk Model Development

The primary objective of this position is to spearhead the development and implementation of wholesale risk models, ensuring that they align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic & Leadership: Establish a Centre of Excellence for Wholesale Rating Models from scratch, providing thought leadership and contributing to the development of best practices in model development and validation. This involves tracking latest regulatory and industry updates, translating them into model design considerations, and researching innovative solutions.
  • Stakeholder Management: Prepare presentations and communicate effectively with Senior Management and Board-level committees, engaging with multiple stakeholders across the credit lifecycle. Review financial spreading logic in newly developed credit lifecycle systems, support governance and audit readiness through proper model documentation, and transparent development practices.
  • Technical & Delivery: Design and implement an end-to-end process for development, validation, and lifecycle management of Wholesale Rating Models. Develop and validate various models, including Corporate/Wholesale Rating Models, explore new approaches for rating model development for low default portfolios, and master rating scale calibration.
  • People Management: Build, mentor, and lead a team of modelers and consultants, driving capability building and continuous learning within the team through training, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Wholesale Model Monitoring: Outline the goals of model monitoring, determine the expected performance of respective models on historical data, implement monitoring tools to continuously assess model performance, communicate model performance to relevant stakeholders, ensure prompt attention to potential problems, regularly review and improve the model performance process based on feedback, change in underlying data, and evolving business requirements.
  • Climatology Risk Analytics: Develop statistical climate risk models, integrate economic and social data to understand how climate risks may impact, develop different climate scenarios based on various emission pathways and climate change projections, assess the potential impact of each scenario on identified financial risk, establish a system for continuous monitoring of climate date, update climate risk models regulatorily, incorporate existing and potential future policies and regulations related to climate change into model development.

This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and excellent communication abilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in wholesale risk model development, stakeholder management, and people management.
