Job Summary:

The primary responsibilities of this role include ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, managing revenue recognition processes, performing detailed accounting research, and effectively leading a team. This position is instrumental in coordinating annual audits and ensuring internal controls are in place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the month-end close process, accurately recording income, expenses, and changes in assets and liabilities on a monthly basis in accordance with IFRS requirements
  • Review and approve journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement trend analyses for management
  • Prepare quarterly lender compliance packages
  • Ensure overall technical accounting compliance, including monitoring relevant IFRS and US GAAP developments to ensure accounting policies and procedures comply with current standards
  • Serve as an internal technical accounting expert, performing research and preparing technical accounting memos, and reviewing new and existing revenue contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition
  • Work cross-functionally during contract negotiation processes by analyzing the impact of non-standard contract terms, communicating revenue impacts, and offering alternative structures
  • Participate in quarterly forecasting procedures and the annual budget process
  • Support annual audits and quarterly reviews, providing supporting analysis and technical accounting memos
  • Provide training sessions and keep business partners informed of developments in accounting and revenue recognition
  • Develop and/or improve existing policies, procedures, and controls

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA/CA certification preferred

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of financial and accounting experience, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Minimum 2 years of public accounting experience required

Skills:

  • Strong technical accounting background with thorough knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP, including experience with technical research and preparation of accounting memorandums
  • Software revenue recognition a plus
  • Ability to clearly document and communicate complex accounting issues to the finance and non-finance teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, multi-task efficiently, and manage individuals
  • Detail-oriented with high level of ethics and integrity
  • Experience with accounting systems, Microsoft D365 Finance experience a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and knowledgeable in complex functions/data analysis using tools such as V-Lookup, Pivot Tables, etc.

Work Environment:

  • This role requires sitting for the majority of the workday, regular typing, observing computer screens for long periods, listening, and speaking clearly to customers and other associates
