**Job Title:** Cloud Database Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Database Engineer to design, implement, configure, administer, maintain and support an array of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) in production, test and development environments that serve Online Transactional Processing (OLTP) and Data Warehouse applications. This role will involve working on developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of corporate databases.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting and implementing enterprise database systems, including supporting advanced configurations such as clustering and replication. Additionally, they will enforce the company's database policies and procedures, maintain enterprise and database servers in production, test and development environments, monitor database performance, and tune database management systems as necessary.

This role also requires close collaboration with system administrators during software installation and upgrades, ensuring the availability of databases in accordance with service level agreements, correcting problems in databases promptly and accurately, reviewing, validating, and deploying database updates during application rollouts to production environments, offering assistance to developers in tuning database queries under development, and supporting developers when troubleshooting application issues related to database backends.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field, along with 5+ years of experience managing, configuring and maintaining various RDBMS, MySQL, Teradata or Redshift preferred. You should have extensive experience and knowledge of query performance tuning, backup restore, permission architecture, and disaster recovery procedures. Proven experience with complex database systems migration, consolidation, and integration is essential. Familiarity with data warehousing methodologies and technologies is also required.

You will need skilled hands-on SQL programming for extensive querying and data manipulation, 2+ years of programming experience with Java, Perl, and at least 1-year programming experience with Python. Advanced working knowledge and experience with Unix, especially Linux, is also necessary. Excellent analytical skills, adaptability to a dynamic work environment, strong teamwork abilities, self-initiative, accountability, excellent written and verbal communication, and server hardware and network knowledge are all desirable qualities.
