Job Overview:The ITOM CMDB Delivery Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the implementation and optimization of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the IT Operations Management (ITOM) framework.This specialist oversees the design, development, configuration, and deployment of CMDB solutions to ensure they align with business goals and IT service management (ITSM) best practices.
  • Main Responsibilities:
  • CMDB Implementation & Management:
    • Lead planning, implementation, and delivery of the CMDB solution to meet business and technical requirements.
    • Define, maintain, and enforce CMDB processes and governance for managing configuration items (CIs).
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements for CMDB structure, workflows, and integration with other ITOM tools.
  • Data Governance & Quality Assurance:
    • Evaluate the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data within the CMDB.
    • Perform regular audits and updates of the CMDB to ensure it remains aligned with infrastructure and service changes.
    • Develop data quality standards and collaborate with teams to improve data consistency.
  • Configuration Item (CI) Modeling:
    • Design and manage a robust CI model, ensuring that each CI reflects the underlying IT services and infrastructure.
    • Maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure the model accurately represents the environment.
  • Integration with ITOM Tools:
    • Collaborate with other ITOM teams to integrate the CMDB with relevant IT tools, such as ServiceNow or BMC Remedy.
    • Configure data sources and automate population of CIs.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Create detailed documentation, including process workflows, integration diagrams, and training materials for end-users.
    • Provide regular reports on CMDB status, data quality, and performance to management.
  • Change and Release Management:
    • Work closely with Change and Release Management teams to ensure that changes to CIs are tracked and documented properly within the CMDB.
    • Assist in developing processes for CI versioning and tracking.
  • Training & Support:
    • Offer training and support to stakeholders in the use of the CMDB and associated processes.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for CMDB-related queries and troubleshooting.
