Senior Engineer for Component Solutions

Thales is a business where brilliant people from all over the world come together to share ideas and inspire each other. As a Senior Engineer for Component Solutions, you will be part of this team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate selected components and provide feedback where applicable.
  • Suggest alternative components when something suitable exists in the Thales preferred parts list or already exists in the Thales component library.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance, including training.
  • Identify obsolescence and other issues, and provide replacement/alternative parts/components to meet project/customer reliability, safety, and legislative requirements.
  • Apply an understanding of legislative compliance.
  • Manage data within supported Thales tools.

Core Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of components and their relation to our products.
  • Identify obsolescence issues arising in our products, systems, and projects.
  • Analyse work packages related to services offered by component engineering, such as RoHS, REACH, Trade Compliance, Counterfeit management, LTB and PCN notices, and data cleansing activities.
  • Understand and manage different solutions required within different scenarios, such as materials, chemicals, standards, and software.
  • Manage workload and communicate issues in a timely manner that does not impact upon the delivery of support to the customer.
  • Represent the company in technical interactions with external suppliers. Ensure that any assumptions and dependencies associated with the solutions are identified, recorded, and maintained.

Additionally, you will have the capability to perform the following:

  • Initiate, approve, issue, and present documentation covering this work.
  • Produce estimates for packages of work.
  • Disseminate component knowledge and component application within the company.
  • Liaise with other team members, groups, and subcontractors on technical matters.
  • Report upon the progress of component-related information requests.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety and security procedures.
  • Manage related alerts, such as quality and counterfeit.

Requirements:

  • B.E/B.Tech in Electronics & Communication or Electrical engineering or equivalent with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Understanding of REACH/RoHS/Conflict Materials and how they affect obsolescence/replacement part selection.
  • Sound design or repair experience in analogue and digital electronics down to component level (desirable).
  • Sound design or repair experience in mechanical components (desirable).
  • Good English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Thales supported Tools would be an advantage.
