Key Data Leader Role

This position is focused on providing strategic leadership for data-related projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data engineering, architecture, and best practices.

The purpose of the Commercial Data team in Advertising is to develop leading property and market data insights to power Real Estate products. This squad sits in the Real Estate tribe, the #1 place for commercial property and data in Australia.

The key responsibilities include:

  • End to end technical delivery of complex initiatives under our product management pipeline using agile methods and frameworks working with cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team, serving as a subject matter expert in data engineering and related technologies.
  • Contribute to the design and architecture of scalable, efficient, and secure data solutions, considering long-term scalability and maintainability.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An experienced background in data engineering, with 8-13 years' experience.
  • A proven track record in people leadership and mentoring.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, data pipelines, data consumption, data analysis, and documentation.
  • Experience with data warehousing and leading development teams using Agile, Lean, and/or iterative releasing.

Bonus points for experience with Big Query, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Python libraries (Pandas, Requests, JSON), Docker, Kafka, Linux shell scripting, Git/GitHub, AWS (S3, Lambda, IaC), Airflow, and interacting with REST APIs.
