The role of a senior database administrator is crucial in ensuring the optimal performance and security of an organization's SQL server infrastructure. This position requires hands-on experience with various aspects of SQL server management, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

A successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of SQL server architecture, T-SQL, triggers, and procedures. They will be responsible for administering and configuring high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, as well as managing replication and patching processes.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and manage SQL servers to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Configure HA/DR solutions, including clustering and Always-On groups.
  • Manage replication processes to ensure data consistency across databases.
  • Patch SQL servers regularly to prevent vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor server capacity and perform tuning activities to optimize performance.
  • Automate tasks using scripts and tools to streamline backup, monitoring, and resource utilization processes.
  • Troubleshoot SQL server issues to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Technical Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL server architecture, T-SQL, triggers, and procedures.
  • Experience with HA/DR solutions, including clustering and Always-On groups.
  • Ability to manage replication processes and patch SQL servers regularly.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, such as PowerShell or Python.
  • Familiarity with database design principles and data modeling.
