Wholesale Risk Model Development Leader

We are seeking an experienced leader to oversee the development and management of wholesale risk models, ensuring they accurately capture potential risks and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a Centre of Excellence for Wholesale Rating Models, driving thought leadership and best practices in model development and validation.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory and industry updates, integrating them into model design considerations, and innovating solutions.
Stakeholder Management:
  • Present and communicate effectively with Senior Management and Board-level committees, engaging stakeholders across the credit lifecycle.
  • Review financial spreading logic in newly developed credit lifecycle systems, supporting governance and audit readiness through proper model documentation.
Technical & Delivery Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement end-to-end processes for developing, validating, and managing Wholesale Rating Models, including Corporate/Wholesale Rating Models and Master Rating Scale calibration.
  • Explore new approaches for rating model development, focusing on low default portfolios and accurate predictions.
People Management:
  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of modelers and consultants, driving capability building and continuous learning through training, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Climate Risk Analytics:
  • Develop statistical climate risk models, integrating economic and social data to understand climate risks' impact on financial institutions.
  • Assess potential impacts of different climate scenarios on identified financial risks, developing adaptation strategies to mitigate relevant risks.
Requirements:
  • Strong foundation in Statistics and Mathematics, with hands-on experience in developing and validating Wholesale Rating Models.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python, and expertise in data analysis and visualization using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Hold a degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of progressive, multi-discipline risk management experience within banking sectors.
