Job Role

This role is responsible for managing software development resources and activities on assigned projects.

  • To be successful in this role, you will need to manage the delivery of each software baseline according to QCD requirements.
  • You will also be responsible for SDE-MPU and SDE-DDU activities.

Position within Organisation

Hierarchical: Software Domain Leader (SWDL)

Network & Links: Train Control Engineer /Sub-System Engineer (SSE)/ Verification & Validation Leader

Performance Measurement/KPIs

  • Quality of delivery (included sub-contractor delivery): 1st time quality rate > 90%
  • Respect of delivery planning (included sub-contractor delivery): 100% on time delivery
  • Level of application of standard Methodologies and Processes: 100%
  • Continuous improvement or Return on Experience (RoE) management from previous projects: 0 missing RoE

Responsibilities

Accountable for:

  • Applying standard processes and related methodologies and tools to ensure domain efficiency within project development
  • Defining, developing and sharing re-usable design patterns in your domain
  • Promoting continuous improvement initiatives in your team
  • Managing traceability and configuration of tools used by your team
  • Supporting tenders on some costing issues
  • Supporting projects on some technical or process issues
  • Delivery of train software according to your engineering work package
  • Deployment and application of train control and information solutions development procedures, processes and design rules on your project
  • Ensuring proper management and traceability of hardware and software configuration - including design tools - (producing release notes)
  • Ensuring that the content of baselines, of release or delivery notes and of software reference versions identifications are in conformity with the release
  • Maintaining and controlling KPIs for the project and reporting to S/W Domain Leader. Accountable for software validation

Skills and Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience

  • Hands-on development experience of software phases like requirement gathering, software development, hardware-software integration etc (minimum of 2 years experience in railway or automotive domain)
  • Experience in leading complete product life-cycle of at least 2 projects (minimum of 2 years experience)
  • Experience in developing software using based model development tools like Matlab / Simulink, Control Build etc.
  • Good working level knowledge of network protocols like MVB, Ethernet, CAN, RS232, RS 485
  • Managing work packages for sub-contractors
  • Functional reports: managing about 5 persons
  • Depending on the project size, your scope of accountability represents a workload of up to 15 full time equivalents
