About the Role

As a Power BI Engineer, you will be responsible for building insightful reports that transform assessment data into actionable intelligence for both internal teams and external clients.

You will work with data from Talogy's Talent Measurement platform to create visualizations that bring clarity to complex assessment results. Our culture is focused on delivering solutions while maintaining a fun and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding business needs and designing solutions to meet those needs.
  • Capable of architecture, design, and implementing warehouse and reporting solutions.
  • Extracting data from bespoke applications and third-party products.
  • Consolidating multiple data sources into a data warehouse or data lake.
  • Ensuring data is accessible and structured to facilitate reporting needs.
  • Setting up dashboards and reports in data visualization and reporting tools.
  • Building resilient, reliable, secure, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Staying ahead of issues with proactive monitoring and alerting.
  • Implementing best practices.
  • Collaborating as part of an agile team to design, develop, and maintain software.
  • Collaborating with product management to prioritize and plan technical debt remediation and refactoring of data structures and stored procedures.
  • Designing and implementing repeatable data pull requests and executing ad-hoc requests as needed.
  • Mentoring junior team members in development practices and assisting the engineering manager with design and architecture decisions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or relevant work experience.
  • 10+ years of strong experience with SQL Servers and relational databases.
  • Strong experience with querying and optimizing complex data sets.
  • Strong experience with creating and optimizing complex stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Strong experience working with older legacy code and systems.
  • Strong experience in data engineering or related roles.
  • End-to-end knowledge from product databases to information visualization.
  • Experience with Azure cloud technologies, including ADF, Functions, DLS, Synapse, etc.
  • Experience with relational database design and architecture.
  • Expertise in data visualization and reporting, including SSRS and Power BI.
  • Understanding of OLAP structures (single-layer DW / Kimball).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to self-organize, prioritize, and track tasks.
  • Capacity to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Teamwork and collaboration – willingness to share thoughts and seek ideas and feedback from others.
  • Experience with SSIS, AD,F, or other ETL tools.
  • Experience with data warehousing is beneficial.
  • Experience with .NET is beneficial.
  • Experience with Azure is beneficial.
  • Experience working in an agile environment is beneficial.
  • Experience with AWS cloud data technologies is advantageous.
