Procurement Professional Job Summary

The Procurement Manager role involves leading the acquisition of essential raw materials for production processes. Key responsibilities include developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maintaining quality and timely delivery of raw materials.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Cycle Management:
    • Analyze Purchase Requisitions and initiate RFQ as per plan received from planning team
    • Determine best prices through comparative quote sheets and issue PO to L1 after approval from AVP & VP Procurement
    • Ensure adherence to Procurement SOP
    • Achieve On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) deliveries, monitor supplier performance, ensure timely payments, and perform vendor reconciliations
  • Procurement Strategy Development:
    • Formulate and implement procurement strategies for raw materials to optimize cost-efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Assess market trends and identify potential risks and opportunities in the raw materials market.
  • Supplier Partnership Development:
    • Select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities
    • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers
    • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and address any issues promptly
  • Cost Control and Optimization:
    • Manage procurement budget for raw materials and adhere to financial targets
    • Implement cost-saving initiatives to reduce procurement costs
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Evaluate all procured raw materials against required quality standards and specifications
    • Collaborate with Quality Assurance team to address quality issues and implement corrective actions
  • Inventory Management:
    • Collaborate with Inventory Management team to maintain optimal stock levels of raw materials
    • Implement inventory control measures to minimize wastage and excess stock
  • Risk Mitigation and Compliance:
    • Comply with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies
    • Identify potential risks in procurement process and develop mitigation strategies
  • Culture and Collaboration:
    • Foster a high-performing culture within the procurement team

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in supply chain management or a related field; professional certifications like CPM, CPSM are preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, focusing on raw materials
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles, practices, and strategies
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and build strong partnerships
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, including SAP
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Pesticide industry experience is advantageous
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to raw materials procurement is beneficial
