Senior DevOps Engineer

Overview of the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps engineer to join our team. As a DevOps engineer, you will be responsible for spearheading the implementation and integration of DevOps methodologies across all applications. You will work closely with development, operations, and quality assurance teams to ensure the delivery of robust, scalable, and efficient software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Focus: Define and execute the DevOps strategy for application development, ensuring alignment with business goals and organizational standards.
• CI/CD Pipeline Management: Architect, implement, and optimize end-to-end CI/CD pipelines for multiple application teams, ensuring fast, reliable, and secure delivery of software releases.
• Automation and Orchestration: Lead the automation of manual tasks throughout the application lifecycle, including testing, deployment, infrastructure provisioning, and monitoring.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a bridge between development, operations, and QA teams to remove silos, facilitate communication, and promote shared responsibilities.
• Cloud and Hybrid Infrastructure: Guide the migration and deployment of applications to cloud or hybrid infrastructures, leveraging best practices for scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Monitoring and Logging: Establish and enhance application monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure high availability, performance, and rapid incident response.
• DevSecOps Integration: Integrate security practices and tools into the development pipeline to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
• Feedback and Innovation: Foster a culture of feedback and iteration by implementing metrics-driven improvements and promoting innovative approaches to DevOps challenges.
• Technological Innovation: Drive technological innovation by exploring AI-enhanced tools and industry-leading practices to shape and evolve long-term DevOps strategies.

Operational Management:

As a DevOps engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines to enable high-velocity application delivery. You will also apply experience working on CI/CD tools such as Bamboo, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub, TeamCity, Octopus, Maven, NuGet, ProGet, or similar to create or update build packages and deployment pipelines.

You will develop/update code builds using scripting skills in languages like Maven, YAML Classical Editor. You will champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for repeatable and auditable infrastructure management (Code branching, Merging and pull request workflow). You will drive containerization and orchestration strategies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Service Fabrics) across the application portfolio. You will develop and enforce automated testing frameworks, including unit, integration, and security testing within pipelines using Jenkins or Azure DevOps.

You will continuously evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to optimize the software delivery lifecycle. You will ensure applications are monitored and supported with actionable logging, metrics, health checks, and uptime dashboards using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, etc. You will implement and uphold policies for access control, patching, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance.

You will facilitate post-incident reviews and root cause analysis to drive system and process improvements. You will document DevOps architectures, processes, and standards for reuse and knowledge sharing. You will engage with business leaders, project managers, and technical teams to align DevOps initiatives with organizational priorities.

People Leadership:

As a DevOps engineer, you will collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements for developing effective IT solutions. You will work closely with internal teams to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and promote effective use of technology for problem-solving.

You will lead and inspire the team to consistently deliver high-quality outcomes. You will foster a culture of continuous improvement in both technical expertise and business acumen. You will set clear, realistic goals and performance standards, and organize performance review sessions with the team on their development plan and career.

You will lead, mentor, and upskill DevOps engineers and developers on modern tools, technologies, and best practices. You will manage DevOps team members, set objectives, and evaluate performance aligned to business outcomes.

You will demonstrate leadership of DevOps or application development teams, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management. You will experience managing competing priorities, timelines, and deliverables in an Agile or DevOps environment.

As a DevOps engineer, you will accelerate application delivery cycles without compromising quality or security. You will maintain high reliability and uptime of critical applications. You will ensure consistent adoption of DevOps best practices across teams. You will grow and develop DevOps team members.

You will maintain accurate and timely recording of time and tasks to enable effective monitoring and reporting of effort. You will regularly audit team timesheets to ensure accuracy and timely updates. You will support MUFG Group assurance programs by promoting effective risk management and compliance practices.
