Chief Investment Officer Role

About this role:

  • This is a senior leadership position within an investment firm, responsible for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of deal evaluation experience, with a focus on venture-scale startups. They should be well-networked across founders, angels, bankers, and operators, with a particular emphasis on India (Hyderabad a plus).

Key responsibilities will include:

Sourcing & Evaluation
  • Building and maintaining a quality pipeline of seed/early-stage and later-stage deals.
  • Developing and refreshing thematic theses (fintech, SaaS, consumer internet, logistics, AI-enabled ops, etc.).
  • Leveraging their network to find non-obvious opportunities.
Due Diligence Leadership
  • Defining diligence scope and selecting external partners for LDD and FDD.
  • Coordinating data-room requests, red-flag logs, and management Q&A.
  • Synthesizing findings into go/no-go recommendations.
Transaction Execution
  • Supporting term sheet design and valuation rationale.
  • Coordinating with counsel on definitive docs.
  • Maintaining accurate closing files.
Portfolio Support
  • Onboarding companies into the advisor network.
  • Tracking portfolio health and preparing follow-on cases.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A strong analytical mindset, with expertise in unit economics, cohort retention, marketplaces, SaaS metrics, working-capital cycles, and path to profitability.
  • Diligence-ready skills, including hands-on experience with LDD/FDD scopes and ability to frame key questions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a bias towards action and low ego.
