Business Development Specialist

The role of a Business Development Specialist is to drive growth in specific industry verticals/territories through cross-selling, managing customer relationships, and providing appropriate customer support.

  • Provide strategic inputs into the formulation of sales plans by identifying potential clients, highlighting customer requirements, and forecasting market trends.
  • Monitor sales targets at the territory/vertical level on a weekly basis, highlighting deviations, and initiating corrective action as required.
  • Ensure adherence to sales performance standards at the territory level.
  • Identify opportunities for business expansion from multiple channels and develop pursuit plans.
  • Negotiate and finalize terms with clients regarding product specifications, payment terms, and timelines, obtaining approval from senior management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers in the territory to facilitate deep understanding of their needs and direct swift resolution of any customer queries.
  • Identify opportunities for integrated solutions involving motors and automation products systems and report them to senior management.
  • Document customer specifications in relevant formats and forward them to the concerned department.
  • Liaise with the operations team to ensure execution of orders in line with predefined timelines and criteria.
  • Regularly liaise with customers and communicate changes in order specifications to the concerned departments.
  • Ensure collections from clients as per contractual agreement.
  • Ensure timely dispatch of goods to the client's site as per the delivery schedule.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures to enhance response quality and minimize response time to customer inquiries, providing necessary support to customers.
  • Lead the establishment of service centers or identify partner agencies to provide quick after-sales service to customers.
  • Provide technical support to customers on after-sales related issues.
  • Record and resolve customer complaints within predefined timelines.
  • Properly log and update all customer interaction activities in appropriate systems.
  • Timely respond to customer inquiries/issues raised during finalization/execution/post-execution sales.
  • Liaise with the network of distributors and dealers in the territory, escalating significant issues to senior management.
  • Effectively manage dealer-related activities, including stock booking, raising invoices, and making payments.
  • Stay up-to-date with territorial developments and provide data to the marketing team on potential opportunities for expansion/diversification into new markets/geographies.
  • Conduct regular discussions with senior management about future plans based on required details mentioned in reports.
