Construction Project Director Job

The construction project director oversees the planning, execution and delivery of building projects across a university campus. This role ensures timely completion of projects according to quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the management and delivery of building projects including new constructions, renovations and infrastructure improvements.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, resource plans in collaboration with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Oversee project design review, procurement, contractor selection, contract negotiations.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with policies, codes and regulations.
  • Monitor project progress, quality control, budget adherence; prepare and present regular status reports.
  • Manage and mentor project managers and support staff within the projects team.
  • Ensure sustainable practices and energy efficiency are integrated into projects.
  • Collaborate with departments to align construction projects with academic and operational needs.
  • Serve as key advisor to leadership on construction and capital project matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 18+ years experience in construction project management preferably in higher education environments.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, contract management and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency with project management software and tools.
