GIS Specialist Role

This GIS specialist role involves designing and implementing custom GIS applications. Key responsibilities include analyzing user requirements to develop and optimize geospatial workflows and tools, integrating GIS with enterprise systems, developing scripts and tools for data automation, analysis, and processing using Python/ArcPy, performing spatial data modeling and analysis, maintaining and optimizing spatial databases, creating interactive maps, dashboards, and visualizations using various software platforms, ensuring the performance and quality of GIS solutions, and providing support and troubleshooting for GIS-related issues and enhancements.

  • Develop and implement custom GIS applications to meet user requirements.
  • Analyze user needs and create optimized geospatial workflows and tools.
  • Integrate GIS with enterprise systems to enhance data sharing and collaboration.
  • Write scripts and tools for data automation, analysis, and processing using Python/ArcPy.
  • Perform spatial data modeling and analysis to gain insights from geographic data.
  • Maintain and optimize spatial databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Create interactive maps, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate complex information.
  • Ensure high-quality and performance of GIS solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for GIS-related issues and enhancements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field such as GIS, Computer Science, Geography, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in GIS development.
  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online).
  • Experience working with migrating Geocortex Essentials and custom HTML 5 web applications into ESRI's JavaScript API version 4.
  • Experience working in VertiGIS Studio Suite of tools and ESRI Experience Builder.
    • Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript (Leaflet/ArcGIS API for JS), or .NET for GIS applications.
    • Experience with spatial databases: PostGIS, SQL Server, Oracle Spatial.
    • Hands-on experience with FME, GDAL, or other ETL/data transformation tools.
    • Knowledge of web development frameworks and APIs (REST/SOAP).
    • Experience integrating GIS with other enterprise systems (ERP, CRM).
    • Familiarity with open-source GIS platforms (QGIS, GeoServer, MapServer) is a plus.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in GIS (e.g., Esri Technical Certification).
  • Experience working with cloud GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise on AWS/Azure).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
