Desktop Support Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Technician to join our team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to end-users to ensure the smooth operation of desktop systems and peripherals.

Responsibilities:
  • User Support: Provide first-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Laptop Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on desktop systems to ensure optimal performance, conduct hardware and software upgrades as needed, and install and configure new hardware and software components.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues, escalate complex issues to higher-level support teams when necessary, and collaborate with other IT professionals to resolve technical problems.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of support requests and resolutions, create and update documentation for standard operating procedures.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure desktop laptop systems are compliant with security policies and assist in implementing and maintaining security measures on desktops.
  • Training: Provide basic training to end-users on software and hardware usage, create training materials and documentation as needed.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a Desktop Support role.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with desktop virtualization technologies is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+ are desirable.
