Job Title: Factory Medical Officer

The role of the Factory Medical Officer is a strategic position that plays a vital part in ensuring the health and wellbeing of workers at an industrial facility. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong background in occupational health.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Occupational Health Hazard Assessments: Identify and mitigate potential hazards within the workplace to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Develop and Implement Health Procedures: Create and implement General and Occupational Health procedures and protocols in line with ISO requirements and best practices.
  • Referral Services: Collaborate with local hospitals and specialists to provide referral services for employees requiring medical attention.
  • Guiding Management: Assist management in addressing and correcting Occupational Health issues, providing guidance on prevention and resolution strategies.
Operational Duties:
  • Pre- and Periodical Medical Examinations: Conduct medical examinations to ensure employee fitness before deployment and monitor overall health trends.
  • First-Aid Care: Provide emergency medical treatment and first-aid care to employees as needed.
  • Statutory Health Check-Ups: Coordinate statutory health check-ups and visits from certifying surgeons to maintain compliance with Factories Act and Rules.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain medicine stock and inventory, including specific antidotes, at the site's Occupational Health Centre.
  • Medical Record Keeping: Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of medical records as per the provision of Factories Act and Rules and ISO requirements.
Financial Management:
  • Revenue Budget Monitoring: Oversee the Medical Centre revenue budget and propose cost-effective measures to optimize resources.
  • Capital Expenditure Projects: Suggest Capital Expenditure projects to improve infrastructure and enhance OHC capabilities.
People Development:
  • Occupational Health Awareness Training: Design and deliver training sessions on occupational hazard awareness, first aid, personal hygiene, environmental sanitation, and safety.
  • Employee Referral Services: Provide necessary medical advice and support to employees referred by management or HR.
  • Site EHS Lead Collaboration: Work closely with Site EHS Leads to improve leading HSE metrics and sustain EHS management excellence at the site.

Required Qualifications:

  • MBBS degree
  • Diploma in Industrial Health (DIH) or Certificate of Training in Industrial Health recognized by the state Government

Desired Experience:

  • Minimum 1-8 years of experience managing Occupational Health Centres in an industrial setting
