Sales Engineer

Oxford Instruments Plc is seeking a highly skilled Sales Engineer to join our team in India. As a Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for generating sales activity, achieving financial targets, and building strong relationships with our customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travelling across India to generate sales activity and achieve financial targets
- Generate, qualify, and manage sales leads, prospects, and customer accounts
- Maintain CRM, report sales forecasts, potential sales, customer feedback, and activity plans
- Interact with prospective buyers, negotiate, and close orders
- Identify new business opportunities and take appropriate action
- Follow up on new inquiries promptly and efficiently
- Build and maintain relationships with our customer base through regular travel and site visits
- Use CRM software to generate quotes and maintain contact details
- Update CRM for process-driven sales activity discussions
- Maintain contact with team leaders and line managers, ensuring they are aware of progress
- Work with sales and marketing teams to provide feedback on competitive position and product/market intelligence
- Attend shows and exhibitions as necessary
- Report on sales and market issues via CRM
- Work with service teams to provide fast and professional response to customer issues
- Participate in training and development activities as required
- Project a professional image of Oxford Instruments and its products at all times
- Operate in accordance with health and safety legislation
- Undertake other tasks or responsibilities in line with the scope and level of the post
Person Specification:
- A degree in engineering or a related field, with a master's or PhD desirable
- Proven track record in technical or analytical instruments sales, with a focus on complex sales cycles
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience managing distributor networks in India
- Excellent people skills and ability to communicate technical concepts and solutions
- Willingness to travel and adapt to changing priorities
- Strong team work ethic and ability to support colleagues
- Focused on excellent customer service
- Positive attitude to challenges and flexibility to cope with changes
