Job Opportunity: Geospatial Data Scientist

This position is ideal for an expert in geospatial data science who can develop and deliver models for GeoAI use cases specific to India. The successful candidate will work closely with customers to understand their needs, conceptualize solutions using ESRI products, represent the organization at conferences, and showcase expertise.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in practical machine learning, proven data science and AI skills with Python, PyTorch, and Jupyter Notebooks. They should also have a fundamental understanding of mathematical and machine learning concepts such as calculus, back propagation, ReLU, Bayes' theorem, Random Forests, time series analysis, etc.

Responsibilities:
  • Consulting with customers to understand their needs
  • MAPPING business problems to machine learning or advanced analytics approaches
  • Building high-quality analytics systems that solve customer business problems using techniques from data mining, statistics, and machine learning
  • Writing clean, collaborative code to process big data and streaming data from various sources
  • Performing feature engineering, model selection, and hyperparameter optimization to yield high predictive accuracy
  • Implementing best practices and patterns for geospatial machine learning and developing reusable technical components
  • Integrating ArcGIS with popular deep learning libraries like PyTorch
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest technology trends in machine and deep learning
Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of practical machine learning experience
  • Proven data science and AI skills with Python, PyTorch, and Jupyter Notebooks
  • Experience in building and optimizing supervised and unsupervised machine learning models
  • Expertise in one or more areas, including traditional and deep learning-based computer vision techniques
  • A fundamental understanding of mathematical and machine learning concepts
  • Experience with applied statistics concepts
  • Ability to perform data extraction, transformation, and loading
  • Experience in data visualization using matplotlib and other libraries
  • Self-motivated and lifelong learner

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in RS, GIS, Geoinformatics, or a related field
  • Knowledge and experience of ESRI products like ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Experience with image analysis and image processing techniques in SAR, Multispectral, and Hyperspectral imagery
  • Strong communication skills, including non-technical audiences
  • Strong Python coding skills
