Purchase Manager Job Description

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong understanding of procurement strategies and a proven track record of implementing effective sourcing plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic purchasing initiatives to optimize raw material costs and ensure timely delivery of shoe adhesives and related materials
  • Evaluate and negotiate with suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and reliability to secure the best possible terms
  • Monitor vendor performance to guarantee adherence to quality standards, timely delivery, and compliance with contractual obligations
  • Collaborate closely with production, R&D, and quality control teams to align procurement strategies with operational requirements
  • Analyze inventory levels and lead times to ensure continuous supply without overstocking or stockouts
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about raw material trends, pricing, and availability
  • Handle import documentation and coordinate with logistics and customs agents as needed
  • Optimize costs without compromising quality through effective vendor development and alternate sourcing strategies
  • Maintain accurate purchase records and process purchase orders and invoices in a timely manner
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred)
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement/purchasing in the chemical or adhesive industry, particularly in relation to footwear adhesives
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills
  • Familiarity with international sourcing, import regulations, and commercial documentation is an asset
  • Understanding of adhesive formulations and key raw materials used in shoe adhesive manufacturing is beneficial
