Progress DBA Position OverviewThe ideal candidate for this position will have extensive knowledge of Progress OpenEdge (OE) database systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance. They should be proficient in OE V10 and V11 skills and have experience with Unix shell scripting.Job Responsibilities: Database Administration: The candidate will be responsible for creating new databases, configuring them with required startup parameters, and monitoring their performance. They must also fine-tune database performance and ensure timely backup and restore processes. Migration and Upgrades: The candidate should have experience in migrating OpenEdge from OE10 to OE11, including the implementation of OE architecture and the creation of new databases. Security and Compliance: The candidate must have good knowledge of OE database security features and AI Imaging (configuration, maintenance, and monitoring). Web and Application Servers: The candidate should have proficiency in administration of Apache Webservers, Progress Webspeed, and Progress AppServers, as well as installation and maintenance of Progress Hybrid Data Pipeline. SQL Interface: The candidate should have basic knowledge of SQL interfacing with Progress.Required Skills and Qualifications:Proficient in OE V10 and V11 skillsExperience with Unix shell scriptingGood working experience on migration of OpenEdge from OE10 to OE11Well-versed with OE installation and configurationImplementation of OE architectureCreation of new databasesConfiguration of databases with required startup parametersMonitoring and maintenance of databasesFine tuning of database performanceConfiguration and monitoring of database backup and restorePerform dump and load of databases as per business requirementQuick trouble shooting of database issuesGood knowledge on OE database security featuresWell-versed with AI Imaging (configuration, maintenance and monitoring)Good proficiency in administration of Apache Webservers, Progress Webspeed and Progress AppServersInstallation and maintenance of Progress Hybrid Data PipelineBasic knowledge on SQL interfacing with ProgressBenefits:This is a challenging yet rewarding role that offers opportunities for growth and professional development.
