Role: Database Administrator- PostgreSQLExperience: 4+yearsLocation: PAN IndiaImmediate joiners onlyOverviewWe are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to design, optimize, and maintain mission-critical database systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, automation, and secure data management, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability and reliability.Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Design & DevelopmentDesign and implement scalable, efficient database schemas for new and existing applications.Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.Support data modeling and ensure adherence to best practices.Performance & OptimizationMonitor database performance and proactively optimize slow-running queries.Implement indexing strategies and best-in-class query tuning techniques for high-volume environments.Diagnose bottlenecks and improve overall database efficiency.AdministrationInstall, configure, patch, and upgrade PostgreSQL servers and related tools.Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.Configure replication, clustering, and high-availability setups.Security & ComplianceImplement and enforce database security policies, user roles, and access controls.Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and regulatory standards.Manage auditing, encryption, and secure configuration baselines.CollaborationWork closely with developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to integrate databases within CI/CD pipelines.Provide support to application teams for database-related issues and performance troubleshooting.AutomationAutomate routine database administrative tasks using Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions for database provisioning and deployments.Required SkillsStrong hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL administration and development.Proficiency in SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning.Experience with high-availability, replication, and clustering (e.g., Streaming Replication, Patroni).Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.Familiarity with cloud-managed database services such as AWS RDS, Aurora, or Azure Database for PostgreSQL.Solid understanding of backup/recovery strategies, security best practices, and monitoring tools.Preferred QualificationsExperience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.Knowledge of PL/pgSQL, JSON/JSONB, partitioning, and advanced PostgreSQL features.Relevant certifications such as Certified PostgreSQL DBA Associate or similar.Exposure to DevOps pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Ansible), and database observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, pgBadger, etc.).
