Job TitleSeeking a detail-oriented and skilled Tax Specialist to manage US tax compliance and advisory with emphasis on IRS correspondence/representation, tax planning, and specialized filings including real estate tax savings strategies, trust returns, franchise tax, SALT compliance, and expatriate/international tax work. The role requires staying current with tax law changes, strong documentation, and the ability to drive cases from intake through resolution (including outsourced delivery models for US-based clients).Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare/review US returns for individuals and businesses in compliance with federal and state requirements, including 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120 (W-2, self-employed, small business owners)Prepare and file expatriate/international returns and forms as applicable: 1116, 2555, FBAR, 8938, 5471; advise on tax treaties, residency issues, FATCA/FBAR compliancePrepare/review trust and franchise tax returns; support SALT compliance and state filings where applicableManage 1099 generation and year-end contractor reporting workflowsMonitor tax law changes, perform technical research, and translate updates into client-ready guidance and compliant filingsHandle IRS notices end-to-end, including penalty/interest abatements using POARepresent clients before IRS Revenue Officers for Offer in Compromise and Installment Agreements; initiate Taxpayer Advocate Service cases when neededDeliver tax planning and savings strategies, including real estate tax planning and coordination/support for cost segregation work to accelerate depreciationProvide tax consultations, document technical conclusions, and tailor solutions by understanding the client's financial situationManage outsourced tax preparation projects for US-based clients (coordination, quality review, and timely delivery)Required SkillsTax Software: CCH Axcess or similarAccounting Review Tool: QuickBooks or similarSpreadsheet: Microsoft Excel (MS Office) or similarIRS Tooling: IRS e-Services or similarWorkflow / Document Handling: ProConnect or similarDocument Management (receipts/statements): Dext or similarPayroll Support Tool: Drake or similarQualificationsEA/US tax experience with strong exposure to IRS representation and notice resolutionStrong knowledge of international tax compliance (FATCA/FBAR, treaties, residency) as relevant to engagementsProven experience with POA, abatements, OIC/IA, and escalation to TAS when neededStrong communication, client-handling, and technical documentation skillsGood to have: CPA / CA / CFA (completed or pursuing)
