Our team is responsible for the complete end-to-end safety experience for buyers — from the warnings you see on the product detail pages (and how to turn them into useful, actionable information), to making safer product recommendations targeted to each individual consumer's needs, to informing consumers of recalled products and preventing them from being delivered to their doorstep.As the founder of the Buyer Safety Experience India team, you'll be able to build the groundwork and influence its direction for the years to come. Our work cuts across various disciplines — from delivering an awesome user experience via great UI/UX, to building massively scalable distributed systems to support the most high-traffic pages on Amazon worldwide, to analytical and feedback systems which give us data-driven customer insights, to using GenAI to educate customers about safe shopping choices and safe product use. If you have a passion for consumer-facing applications, and are obsessed with customer experience, we want youKey job responsibilitiesAs the first Software Development Manager of the Buyer Safety Experience team in BLR, you will hire and lead a two-pizza team, and work closely with cross-functional stakeholders worldwide across Program and Product. Your role will be heavily customer-obsessed, building solutions to ensure Amazon is Earth's safest place to shop.A day in the life- Hiring: Build a two-pizza team from scratch- Define the team's yearly Operational Planning and long-term vision and charter, along with product and business stakeholders- Deeply understand technical decisions, influence long-term architecture- Work closely with international stakeholders across our VP-level Trustworthy Shopping Experience org, in addition to TPM and PM-T- 3+ years of engineering team management experience- 7+ years of engineering experience- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations- Experience partnering with product or program management teams- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineersOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
