Role Overview:-
The Manager – IT Infrastructure & Operations will be responsible for planning, implementing, securing, and managing the hospital’s IT infrastructure to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure technology operations. This includes data centres, servers, storage, networks, hospital management systems, PACS, clinical applications, IoT medical devices connectivity, and end-user support. The role ensures 24x7 availability of IT systems supporting patient care, administration, and compliance with healthcare IT standards.
Key Responsibilities:-
Infrastructure Management
- · Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of data center, servers, storage, and virtualization platforms.
- · Manage hospital-wide wired and wireless networks, telephony, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability.
- · Ensure PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems), HMIS/EMR, LIS, RIS, and other clinical systems run with high uptime.
- · Implement IT disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plans.
- · Manage cloud and hybrid infrastructure.
Operations Management
- · Lead the IT service desk and technical support team to ensure timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
- · Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and implement performance tuning.
- · Define and monitor IT operations KPIs (uptime, response time, ticket resolution, etc.).
- · Ensure compliance with NABH, HIPAA, and other healthcare IT security and privacy standards.
- · Manage vendor relationships and service level agreements (SLAs).
Security & Compliance
- · Implement cybersecurity measures including endpoint security, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and data protection.
- · Conduct periodic audits and risk assessments.
- · Ensure compliance with healthcare data protection regulations (HIPAA / local health IT guidelines).
Team & Vendor Management
- · Supervise IT operations staff including network engineers, system administrators, and support engineers.
- · Coordinate with biomedical engineering teams for integration of IT-enabled medical equipment.
- · Liaise with hospital leadership, clinical teams, and external vendors for smooth IT operations.
Qualifications
- Education:
i)) Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, or related field (mandatory).
ii) Master’s Degree (MBA/ M.Tech) preferred.
iii) Certifications such as ITIL, CCNA/CCNP, MCSE, VMware, CISSP, or CISM will be an added advantage.
- Experience:
i) 8-10 years of overall IT experience with at least 5 years in IT Infrastructure & Operations management.
ii) Prior experience in a healthcare/hospital environment of similar scale (minimum 500+ beds) is highly desirable.
iii) Proven track record in managing mission-critical IT systems, data centers, and clinical application infrastructure.
iv) Hands-on expertise in networking, servers, virtualization, storage, cybersecurity, and cloud integration.
v) Experience with HIS/EMR, PACS, and medical device connectivity preferred.
Skills & Competencies
i) Strong leadership and team management skills.
ii) Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
iii) Knowledge of healthcare IT standards and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, NABH, HL7, DICOM).
iv) Ability to manage budgets, vendor contracts, and large-scale IT projects.
v) Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
vi) Availability for on-call duty in critical situations (24x7 hospital environment).
