Role Overview:
The Senior Merchandiser at Vatsal Exports is responsible for managing the end-to-end merchandising process, acting as a vital link between the company, the buyer, and the production team. This role involves overseeing the sourcing of raw materials, production, quality control, documentation, and shipment of garments. Additionally, the Senior Merchandiser will be responsible for managing a team of junior merchandisers and ensuring that all activities align with the company’s standards.
Key Responsibilities:
·  Team Management: Supervise and guide a team of junior merchandisers, delegating tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring high-quality output.
· Enabling Internal and External Communication: Maintain strong relationships with buyers, suppliers, and production units to ensure smooth communication and the timely execution of orders.
·  Understanding Product Properties: In-depth knowledge of product characteristics, including material type, colour, quality, and other essential factors that meet buyer specifications.
·  Sampling: Oversee the sampling process, ensuring products meet the buyer’s expectations and quality standards before moving into mass production.
·  Preparing Internal Order Sheets: Anticipate and coordinate with the production team regarding raw material needs, ensuring orders are placed promptly.
·  Quality Control: Collaborate with the quality department to monitor incoming materials, ensure high standards, and adjust based on cost considerations and profit margins.
·  Preparing Purchase Orders: Understand the specific needs and preferences of buyers, particularly international buyers, and ensure purchase orders reflect these requirements.
·  Production Oversight: Liaise with production to ensure that the product is manufactured according to the buyer’s specifications, meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
· Documentation and Shipping: Supervise documentation, banking processes, and shipment schedules, ensuring accurate records and timely deliveries.
·  Problem Solving: Address and resolve issues in production, logistics, or buyer communications to ensure smooth workflow and client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
·        4-6 years of experience in a senior merchandising role within the garment industry.
·        Proven leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team.
·        Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
·        Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
·        Strong understanding of garment production, quality control, and buyer expectations.
·        A professional and presentable demeanour with a focus on client relations.
