About the RoleThis is a highly skilled position that requires an individual with exceptional culinary knowledge and leadership abilities. As a Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for directing a team of cooks and ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standard.Key ResponsibilitiesDirects, coaches, supports, supervises, and evaluates direct reports to ensure excellent food quality and consistency in taste.Maintains in-depth knowledge of culinary terms and implements effective controls to guarantee exceptional service delivery.Prepares company recipes by maintaining quality and consistency in taste according to corporate office instructions, adhering to health and safety regulations.Works efficiently and productively, completing tasks proficiently to meet deadlines and standards.Coordinates and supervises team members assigned to their section, delegating tasks accordingly to optimize productivity.Undertakes daily recipe reviews, maintaining immaculate condition of recipe folders.Follows through on requests within their area of responsibility received from supervisors or managers, demonstrating exceptional communication skills.Financial ManagementResponsible for cost containment through proper use, handling, and maintenance of records, reports, supplies, and equipment.Identifies potential expense reductions through effective cost control measures.Analyzes operational problems and establishes controls to minimize waste and optimize resources.Reviews timesheets and forwards them to the Executive Chef for approval, ensuring timely payment and compliance with company policies.Motivational LeadershipMonitors and manages workstation functions to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards.Assigns duties and responsibilities to staff, providing clear guidance and expectations.Observes and evaluates staff and work procedures to ensure quality standards and service are met, identifying areas for improvement.Inspects workstations, work areas, equipment, etc. to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards, making recommendations for improvements.Qualifications and EducationMinimum 8 years in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship, or convention banqueting service, and at least 2 years as Chef de Partie (shipboard experience preferred).Culinary school degree required, with a strong focus on management skills in a multicultural and dynamic environment.Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
