About the Business

Spices:

The India Spices Business Unit was established in 2007 and operations started in 2011. It has a strong presence in origination, processing and supply chain across the value chain in various products like chilli, turmeric, cumin, etc. As part of business expansion, it is envisaging for two additional operating units. The Spices Business is a key player in the operating segments with a wide product range and caters to large institutional customers within India and across the globe.

We produce healthy ingredients for the world’s food supply, and bring them to markets, restaurants, and kitchens all around the world. Our superior product expertise, innovation and risk management has enabled us to become the world’s number 1 source for garlic, onions, and chillies and a global leader for pepper, tropical spices, purees, and parsley. We work directly with the growers, process our products close to where they are grown, and have built up a sophisticated worldwide distribution network over the years. We are committed to sustainable production, holding ourselves to high standards.

Overview of the position

The Project & Engineering Head will manage projects and maintenance across all across all our Spices business locations in India. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the role will oversee key activities in Kochi, Unjha, and Guntur.

Position responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the maintenance functions at multiple sites (Kochi, Unjha, and Guntur).
• Develop and implement maintenance procedures to ensure seamless operations.
• Conduct facility inspections to identify and resolve issues promptly.
• Ensure optimal functionality of electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Plan and supervise repair and installation activities.
• Allocate workload and lead the upkeep staff effectively.
• Monitor equipment inventory and place procurement orders when required.
• Oversee maintenance budgets and control expenditures.
• Build and maintain relationships with contractors and service providers.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and reports.
• Plan and manage project ideas from inception to completion.
• Set project deadlines, monitor progress, and evaluate performance.
• Proactively identify and resolve project-related issues.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety policies across all operations.
• Execute greenfield and brownfield projects successfully

Position requirement

• Engineering graduate with 10-12 years of experience in maintenance and project engineering within the Spices Product Industry or FMCG sector.
• Proven expertise in planning and managing maintenance operations.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Practical experience with facilities machinery and equipment.
• Demonstrated success in managing greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Willingness to travel across locations within India.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.
