Job OverviewWe're building a cutting-edge resale platform for furniture and home goods, aiming to make buying second-hand as smooth and reliable as buying new. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of this innovative venture.Key Responsibilities:Develop high-performance and scalable backend services using Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.x.Implement cloud persistence with Google Cloud Firestore, designing efficient data models and CRUD operations.Integrate third-party APIs, focusing on Firebase Admin SDK for authentication/security and Stripe Java SDK for critical flows like identity verification and webhook processing.Design and implement robust REST APIs for mobile clients, ensuring scalability and security.Maintain code quality standards, write comprehensive unit tests, and enforce CI/CD pipelines through GitHub Actions.Ensure API endpoints are secured, collaborate with founders on code reviews, and optimize services for performance and reliability.What We're Looking For:4+ years of experience in backend development with strong proficiency in Java 21+Extensive experience with Spring Boot 3.x and the Spring ecosystem (Security, Web, Data)Cloud persistence experience with Google Cloud Firestore or other NoSQL databases, including indexing and query optimization.API integration and security experience, particularly with Firebase Authentication and/or complex payment/identity platforms like Stripe.Testing and CI/CD experience with unit and integration testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers) and familiarity with continuous integration tools (GitHub Actions, Gradle).Development principles such as software design patterns, RESTful API design (OpenAPI/Swagger), and strict code style and quality standards.Why Join Us?A founding team mindset where you'll build alongside the founders and early hires, shaping how we work from the ground up.A contract-first approach with a clear goal of growing into the founding engineering team, with equity and long-term ownership on the table if it's the right fit.Collaboration at the core, where we believe the best work comes from tight collaboration – async-first, transparent, and with everyone thinking like an owner.An impact that matters, reducing waste and carbon emissions at scale in the $50B+ resale furniture vertical.
