Backend Software Engineer Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in building scalable backend systems using Python, FastAPI and/or Flask.Job Responsibilities:Design and Develop Scalable Backend Systems: Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Python (FastAPI and Flask)Architect and Implement High-Performance APIs: Architect and implement high-performance, async FastAPI endpoints for healthcare billing analysisManage and Optimize Databases: Manage and optimize SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar), including schema design, complex queries, indexing, transactions, and query optimizationDevelop Data Processing Pipelines: Build data processing pipelines for healthcare EDI files (835, 837) and other structured dataImplement Cloud-Native Solutions: Develop cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub and related servicesRequired Skills and Qualifications:Python Expertise: Strong proficiency in Python with FastAPI and/or FlaskDatabase Management: Solid SQL expertise and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQLCloud Computing: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, ideally including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub or similar servicesDevOps Practices: Familiarity with DevOps practices including CI/CD, deployment and monitoringProblem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving and debugging abilitiesBenefits of Working with Us:Remote Work Culture: We offer a remote-first culture with ownership of deliverables and autonomy in how you workOpportunity to Shape the Company: Opportunity to shape the architecture and foundation of a high-traction Silicon Valley health-tech startupCollaborative Team: Work closely with a senior, highly technical team on meaningful problems in healthcare
