Zeno is seeking a Battery Validation Lead to establish and lead validation efforts for Zeno’s battery systems. To meet 2040 net zero goals, over 2 billion electric two-wheelers (motorcycles) must be sold and $11 trillion in fuel consumption replaced. Zeno is building a tech platform to electrify this two-wheeler market, currently responsible for more than 4% of the world’s GHG emissions. Our mission is to accelerate the energy transition and democratize the benefits across Africa, India, and Latin America. With a focus on East Africa as a starting point, Zeno is building a new energy ecosystem with ground-up development of a fundamentally better electric motorcycle and associated battery swap network to drive a better experience for our customers.The RoleZeno is seeking a Battery Validation Lead to establish and lead validation efforts for Zeno’s battery systems. This role is critical in ensuring the safety, performance, and reliability of high-energy-density lithium-ion battery packs across their full lifecycle. You will own the validation strategy, testing infrastructure, and execution of rigorous validation plans to support design, compliance, and field readiness.What You’ll DoExecute DVP and homologation compliance tests of the packConduct BMS board level testing and validationOwn Field data analysis for continuous product improvementDefine and execute comprehensive validation plans for battery modules and packs covering electrical, thermal, mechanical, and environmental tests.Set up and manage validation labs, equipment, and test protocols to support development and production programs.Work closely with design, hardware, and firmware teams to define test requirements and acceptance criteria.Conduct validation testing across charge/discharge cycles, abuse testing, thermal runaway, vibration, shock, and ingress protection.Lead root cause analysis of failures and drive corrective actions with cross-functional teams.Ensure compliance with relevant EV and battery regulations (AIS156, AIS038, AIS004, ISO 26262, UN38.3).Build data acquisition and reporting systems to generate validation dashboards and insights.Manage external test labs and certification agencies for homologation testing.Mentor and guide junior validation engineers, building a strong internal capability.Drive continuous improvement in test methodologies, coverage, and reliability targets.What You Bring7–10 years of experience in battery validation, testing, or reliability engineering, with leadership exposure.Strong knowledge of lithium-ion cell and pack behavior under various operating conditions.Proven expertise in electrical and thermal testing, failure analysis, and validation methodologies.Hands-on experience with validation equipment such as cyclers, chambers, and DAQ systems.Familiarity with automotive and EV validation standards (AIS156, AIS038, UN38.3, ISO 26262).Strong analytical skills with ability to translate test data into actionable insights.Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional validation programs and external lab engagements.Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.BenefitsCompetitive salary aligned with senior technical leadership.Company-sponsored healthcare plan.Opportunity to build and lead Zeno’s battery validation function from the ground up.Be part of a mission-driven team shaping the trillion-dollar transition of two-wheelers to electric.
