Role Summary:
This role will work with the Senior International Officer (South Asia and Middle East) and the Student Recruitment Manager (India) to deliver the University student recruitment activity in India. The post holder will help build successful working relationships with key partners and stakeholders in India such as schools; colleges; the British Council, alumni and graduate employers in order to increase recruitment of the best prospective students from India to Imperial College London. The role will involve supporting recruitment partnerships and delivering strategies for student recruitment in order to ensure the highest quality applicants make Imperial their first-choice destination.
Roles & Responsibilities
You will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of the University’s marketing and recruitment activities in India. You will be a self-motivator, able to work effectively on your own as well as being comfortable working as part of a team. You will assist in maintaining relationships with key stakeholders including the University’s internal team as well as alumni, school counsellors and India-based UK organisations including the British Council. This post will involve significant travel within India. You will:-
- Support the delivery of international student recruitment plans and strategies in India, including, organising and participating in recruitment events. This will include representing the University at exhibitions, educational institutions and pre-departure briefings with other stakeholders (this will involve travelling and working outside of regular work hours).
- Organise and deliver virtual activities to complement face-to-face recruitment.
- Follow up on leads generated from marketing campaigns and exhibition attendance by phone and email, identifying enquirers needs and providing the appropriate guidance.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all related University information including entry requirements, programme details, application processes, fees, scholarships, teaching methods, accommodation and student facilities. Providing accurate information and advice on this to all enquirers.
- Deliver professional guidance on processes and procedures to clients and customers both internal and external to university. Using sound judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate and ensuring complex issues are understood.
- Act as a first point of contact for prospective students from India to assist them in a timely and professional manner, making use of all available resources and contacts within Imperial
- Advise prospective international students and their influencers on their applying to the University.
- Investigate and analyse specific issues and data to inform strategy decisions, establish basic trends and patterns in recruitment data and create reports as appropriate
- Manage and maintain various WhatsApp groups to ensure timely communication with school counsellors and other key-stakeholders for queries and sourcing information that may be of interest to promote through these channels.
- Assist the Senior International Officer (South Asia and Middle East) and the Student Recruitment Manager (India) in developing online marketing content, particularly in the use of social media activities.
- Assist in the organisation of incoming high-level delegations from the University to India.
- For student recruitment activity, assist in the developing and supporting alumni networks in India.
- Deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.
- Monitor activities and to record feedback.
Essential Criteria
- A first degree preferably from a UK University and at least 3 year’s work experience.
- Experience of working in a marketing and customer focused environment
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure with proven organisation
- Be able to problem solve and quickly adapt to changing situations
- Ability to communicate conceptually detailed and complex information effectively with a wide range of people both orally and in writing in a timely manner.
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to work well within a team to achieve University objectives, but also to work independently when working away from the office.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the UK, especially the UK’s Higher Education Sector
- Evidence of having high levels of motivation, flexibility and being target orientated
- Significant administrative experience including the use of IT.
- Highly motivated with a flexible approach to work.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
- Willingness to travel domestically and to the UK.
- Commitment to the University’s values and behaviors.
Desirable Criteria
- Alumnus of a Russell Group University or Imperial College (preferred)
- Experience of working for Russell Group University with focus on student recruitment.
- Familiarity with UK Higher Education system.
- Degree or work experience in marketing.
Travel Requirements: This role requires occasional travel within India and periodic travel to the UK. The incumbent should be able to undertake such travel and be flexible to work outside regular office hours including evenings and weekends as necessary.
