JOB SUMMARY:

As a Product Designer with a specialization in interior design, it will play a crucial role in conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative products that contribute to enhancing interior spaces. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for aesthetics, deep understanding of interior design principles, and the ability to create products that meet both, functional and visual criteria. A successful product designer should possess a combination of technical skills, creative abilities, and interpersonal qualities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conceptualization and Designing Interior Products : Collaborate with senior designers and product teams to brainstorm and develop innovative interior product concepts that meet design briefs and client expectations. Translate research insights, design briefs, and client feedback into tangible design concepts, including sketches, mood boards, and digital renderings. Ensure alignment with the brand’s aesthetic and functional goals. Stay updated on interior design trends, market demands, and consumer preferences.
• 3D Modeling and technical Design: Use software such as Rhino, Grasshopper, AutoCAD, or SketchUp, solidworks to create detailed 3D models of interior products. Ensure accuracy in scale, proportion, and materials, keeping in mind real-world production constraints. Develop precise technical drawings, including dimensions, materials, and assembly instructions. These drawings will guide manufacturing team at factory through the production process, ensuring that designs can be accurately replicated at scale.
• Material Research and Selection: Research and evaluate suitable materials for each project, considering aesthetics, durability, cost, and sustainability. Work with suppliers to source material samples for client presentations and prototyping. Ensure that materials selected meet eco-friendly design principles, minimizing the environmental impact of both production and product lifecycle (durability, recyclability, etc.). Collaborate with engineering and production teams to test material properties such as strength, texture, and flexibility.
• Prototyping and Testing: Work closely with internal teams and external manufacturers to create physical prototypes of designed products. Use rapid prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing, CNC machining) to bring designs to life quickly and accurately. Analyze prototypes and test them for functionality, ergonomics, and aesthetic appeal. Incorporate insights from testing and prototyping phases into the final design.
• Collaboration with Cross-Functional Team: Work closely with senior designers, engineers, project managers, and production teams to ensure that all aspects of the design align with the project goals, manufacturing capabilities, and client requirements. Communicate effectively with manufacturers, ensuring they understand design details and specifications. Address any production challenges by adjusting designs for feasibility without compromising quality.
• Product Presentation and Documentation : Prepare clear and engaging presentations for internal stakeholders or clients, including design boards, mood boards, and rendered visuals. Ensure that presentations effectively communicate the design vision, materials, and functionality of the products. Create comprehensive documentation for each project, including technical drawings, specifications, materials lists, and assembly instructions. Ensure these documents are clear, accurate, and ready for production handover. Develop detailed exploded view diagrams to guide the assembly process, especially for complex products with multiple components. This ensures that manufacturers or clients can assemble products correctly.
• Production Support and Quality Control: Provide support to production teams during the manufacturing process to ensure that the final products match design specifications. Conduct quality checks on pre-production samples or the first batch of manufactured products to ensure they meet the required standards in terms of design, materials, and craftsmanship. Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to optimize costs without sacrificing design quality or materials.
• Research and Development: Research and explore new technologies, materials, and processes that could be integrated into future products. Stay up-to-date on advances in manufacturing techniques and design tools. Gather insights from end-users and apply user-centered design principles to ensure that products are functional, intuitive, and tailored to meet customer needs.
• Project and Time Management: Assist in tracking design progress, from the initial concept to final product handover, ensuring that key milestones are met on time. Manage multiple design projects concurrently, ensuring that each phase of design, prototyping, and production aligns with deadlines.
• Continuous Learning and Skill Development: Stay informed about the latest trends, innovations, and technologies in both interior and product design. Be open to feedback from colleagues, senior designers, clients, and manufacturers. Apply constructive criticism to refine your work and improve your designs.

Qualification and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Product Designer with a focus on interior design (portfolio required).
• Proficient in design tools such as AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and 3D modelling software.

Salary would be in line with the experience.
