Enterprise System Software Engineer

Job Title: Mainframe Systems DeveloperPkware seeks an experienced mainframe systems developer to design and implement enterprise-level system software in ibm mainframe environments.Key Responsibilities:Install, configure, and maintain z/os and subsystems (jes2, racf, cics, db2, ims)Manage system updates, ptf's, apars using smp/eEnsure system stability and compatibility across releasesMonitor and optimize cpu, memory, and io performanceTune wlm, sysplex, and critical componentsConduct capacity planning and recommend hardware upgradesAdminister racf and enforce security policiesEnsure compliance with sox, pci-dss, hipaaApply security patches and mitigate vulnerabilitiesManage dfsms, vsam, hsm, and storage toolsOversee backups, dr, and high-availability solutionsOptimize disk and tape storage usageDiagnose and resolve system abends and bottlenecksAnalyze dumps, logs, and traces for root causeWork with ibm support and vendors on complex issuesDevelop automation using rexx, jcl, clist, ansibleImprove monitoring, job scheduling, and efficiencyAutomate repetitive tasks to streamline processesImplement and test dr plans for business continuityMaintain parallel sysplex and failover configurationsMaintain technical documentation and best practicesMentor junior team members and share knowledgeRequirements:Requirements include a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience, 5+ years as a z/os systems programmer or similar role, expertise in z/os, z/vm, jes2, smp/e, tso, ispf, racf, jcl, rexx, vtam, tcp/ip, uss, z/linux, and strong understanding of ibm mainframe hardware, sysplex, and storage management.
