Job Summary:We are seeking an exceptional QA Mechanical Engineer to ensure the reliability and flight readiness of mechanical subsystems and components throughout their lifecycle.Main Responsibilities:Maintain compliance with ECSS mechanical standards, including ECSS-Q-ST-20, ECSS-Q-ST-30, ECSS-E-ST-32, and ECSS-Q-ST-70Review mechanical design documentation for adherence to ECSS requirementsEnsure consistency in materials selection, finishing processes, structural integrity, and mechanical performanceKey Activities:Develop inspection criteria for machined parts, composite structures, mechanisms, fasteners, thermal hardware, brackets, enclosures, mounting interfaces, and structural elementsPerform incoming inspection, in-process QA, and final acceptance of mechanical parts and assembliesValidate workmanship per the ECSS-Q-ST-70 series (mechanical assembly, bonding, coating, surface treatments, adhesive processes)Environment & Testing:Review and approve test plans and procedures for vibration testing, shock testing, thermal vacuum (TVAC) testing, thermal cycling, and mechanical qualification & acceptance testingEnsure verification activities follow ECSS-E and ECSS-Q standardsSafety & Quality Assurance:Audit mechanical manufacturing suppliers for ECSS compliance in machining, forming, bonding, composites, mechanisms, plating/coating, and structural assembly processesEvaluate supplier capability, process maturity, and quality management systemsProblem-Solving:Lead NCRs, perform structured root-cause analysis, and drive effective corrective & preventive actions (CAPA)Assess risks related to mechanical design, manufacturing tolerances, materials behavior, or supplier processesDocumentation:Prepare and maintain QA documentation including mechanical QA plans, inspection reports, test verification documents, process qualification packages, compliance matrices, and configuration managementRequirements:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline5+ years of experience in mechanical QA for space or aerospace hardwareHands-on experience applying ECSS mechanical and environmental standards on past space programsStrong expertise in mechanical inspection techniques, GD&T, structural verification, and materials/process QAFamiliarity with mechanical manufacturing processes (machining, coating, anodizing, bonding, composite layup)Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skillsPreferrred Requirements:Experience with ESA, CNES, DLR, ASI, ISRO, or commercial spaceflight hardwareUnderstanding of ECSS structural analysis requirements and environmental test campaignsCompetencies:High attention to detail with a structured and methodical approachAbility to interpret complex mechanical documentation and enforce standardsStrong problem-solving skills with cross-functional collaboration capability
