Enterprise Mainframe Systems Expertise is required for this role. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise-level system software in IBM mainframe environments.This position focuses on system configuration, performance tuning, security, automation and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and optimal performance. You'll lead technical initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business and IT objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, upgrade, configure and maintain z/OS and subsystems (JES2, RACF, CICS, DB2, IMS).Manage system updates, PTFs, APARs using SMP/E.Ensure system stability and compatibility across releases.Performance Optimization & Capacity PlanningMonitor and optimize CPU, memory and I/O performance.Tune WLM, Sysplex and critical components.Conduct capacity planning and recommend hardware upgrades.Security & Compliance ManagementAdminister RACF and enforce security policies.Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Apply security patches and mitigate vulnerabilities.Storage & Backup AdministrationManage DFSMS, VSAM, HSM and storage tools.Oversee backups, DR and high-availability solutions.Optimize disk and tape storage usage.Incident Resolution & TroubleshootingDiagnose and resolve system abends and bottlenecks.Analyze dumps, logs and traces for root cause.Work with vendors on complex issues.Automation & ScriptingDevelop automation using REXX, JCL, CLIST, Ansible.Improve monitoring, job scheduling and efficiency.Automate repetitive tasks to streamline processes.Disaster Recovery & High AvailabilityImplement and test DR plans for business continuity.Maintain Parallel Sysplex and failover configurations.Documentation & Knowledge SharingMaintain technical documentation and best practices.Mentor junior team members and share knowledge.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science, IT or equivalent experience.5+ years as a z/OS Systems Programmer or similar role.Expertise in z/OS, z/VM, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, ISPF, RACF, JCL, REXX, VTAM, TCP/IP, USS, z/Linux.Strong understanding of IBM mainframe hardware, Sysplex and storage management.Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting using logs and dumps.Familiarity with automation tools and middleware integration.Preferred QualificationsExperience with CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, WebSphere or z/VM.Familiarity with ACF2, Top Secret and cloud integration.Knowledge of Containers, AI and ability to read Assembler/C code.Certifications: IBM Certified System Programmer – z/OS, ITIL Foundation.Desirable SkillsStrong problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to work independently and lead initiatives.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.What We OfferCompetitive salary and benefits.Opportunity to work on mission-critical systems.Professional growth and training on modern technologies.Collaborative and inclusive work environment.
